We prefer to personally contact anyone interested in information about membership. For more information, please submit the form on this page or call Rabbi Swartz at 570-344-7201. The office is staffed from 9 to 4:00 p.m. Tuesdays through Friday.
- Temple Hesed is a member of the Union for Reform Judaism, subscribing to the concept of “fair share” dues. Fair share is defined as one and a half percent of your gross income.
- Our dues provide less than 50% of our necessary funds. The professional staff, Board of Directors and other volunteers work very hard to keep Temple Hesed operating efficiently in order to keep dues as low as possible.
- We hope you will consider more than the minimum dues level. Your additional support allows us to continue the programs and services that we all have come to expect and appreciate at Temple Hesed.
- There are NO extra charges for High Holy Day Services, and if you have family or friends who are members in good standing at any other synagogue, regardless of affiliation, they may accompany you to services. There is an additional charge for children’s religious education.
At Temple Hesed, The Temple of Loving Kindness, we realize that each family is different. Our finance committee chair will meet with you individually to discuss your dues pledge. If you are in a situation where dues payment is a hardship, you can discuss that situation confidentially with our finance chair so that an arrangement can be made. We work hard to make sure that anyone who wishes to join can afford to do so. All members of Temple Hesed – regardless of dues assessment are treated equally.
