So have a look around our new website, browse our links and pages and call us or email us if you have any questions whatsoever, we are anxious to answer them for you. And we certainly would love to personally welcome you to the Temple Hesed Community.
OUR BEGINNINGS
Temple Hesed began as Congregation Ansche Hesed in 1860. It was located on Linden
Street in Scranton, Pennsylvania. A growing congregation, it moved to its second home and adopted its name from its new location - The Madison Avenue Temple. The current site was dedicated as Temple Hesed in 1973. Our spiritual leader is Rabbi Daniel J. Swartz.
WHERE WE ARE TODAY
Temple Hesed is located on Scranton's East Mountain. Driving directions from center city Scranton are: Moosic Street (Route 307N) to Lake Scranton Road, the turn opposite the entrance to Lake Scranton (there is a traffic light). Turn onto this road then make the first right onto Knox Street. At the top of the hill to the driveway to the Temple will be on your right. Moosic Street (Route 307) is easily accessed from Interstate 81 at the River Street exit (north) or the Moosic Street exit (going south). From Route 380 take the Daleville exit and go left on Route 307.
