Sisterhood

One of the major organizations at Temple Hesed, Sisterhood provides financial, social, educational and family support through its programming. Sisterhood also offers a path to leadership in other aspects of Temple life.

·         Temple Hesed’s Sisterhood brings a variety of programs to our community on subjects ranging from Jewish Recipes from Around the World, to Laughter Therapy, to Protecting our Children from Health Threats.

·         Temple Hesed’s Sisterhood has produced leaders in our community as well as on a national level for the entire Reform movement.

·         One of Sisterhood's major responsibilities is as the primary fundraiser for the Religious School. Proceeds from fundraising activities support the educational programs and activities of Temple Hesed youth.

·         Major undertakings of the Sisterhood include:

o   Annual Rummage Sale which raises thousands of dollars

o   “Hesed, Hallah and Honey” program which takes place each Rosh Hashanah. The entire community is asked to buy gift bags for the holiday with a fresh Kosher challah, apples, a jar of honey, Shabbat candles, and candy. The gift bags are hand-delivered on Rosh Hashanah eve day. Members of the community buy bags for friends, family, dinner guests, and shut-ins. New members of the Temple are given bags to welcome them to Temple Hesed.

o   Sisterhood Shabbat is a special Shabbat service held in the spring, which is written, designed and led by women. Families and all members are invited to attend this annual event that is meant to be shared and enjoyed by all ages and genders.
